BROW LAMINATION GUIDED TIMINGS
FINE HAIR TYPES 7-9 minutes
If you feel/brush through your client’s brows, and they are easy to move and very light, soft and slim in nature, your client has a ‘fine’ type of brow hair. Therefore, when you carry out lamination, the product won't long to achieve the desired results and the product will easily and quickly be able to access the cortex in order to modify the hair’s structure.
NORMAL 8-9 minutes
If you brush through your client’s brows and they feel fairly strong and slightly rigid with their movement, and they are slightly thicker in texture, you are working with a normal hair type. These clients are the perfect candidates for lamination.
COARSE 9-11 minutes
If, when brushing through your client's brows, the hairs feel resistant to movement, lack flexibility, and appear thick or dense in texture, they are likely coarse. Coarse hairs have a more compact cuticle structure, making it more challenging for the product to penetrate the cortex and break down the bonds within the hair. As a result, they typically require longer processing times to achieve adequate softening and successful restructuring.
PLEASE NOTE
To make it very clear, Step 2 ALWAYS mirrors the exact timings of Step 1.
IMPORTANT
It is crucial to regularly assess your client’s hair’s movement during Step 1. If you are coming to the end of your prescribed timings, and there are several hairs that are not relaxed and flat to the skin, they need a longer processing time. If there are a small handful of hairs that lift back off of the skin after the removal of Step 1, they need a 'spot lami'. If this is the case, we would advise applying a small amount of product solely to the stubborn hairs and allow an additional minute of processing time. Assess the results every minute and remove the product once those hairs have relaxed. Gone are the days when we leave our clients to process; regular assessment is key. It may even be that you check the hair and they are ready prior to the end of the decided processing time and that it is time to remove the product before they become damaged.
PLEASE NOTE that thicker/coarser hair types absorb more product than finer hair types. During your check-ups, you might find that you need to apply more product to the hair.
EYELASH LIFTING GUIDED TIMINGS

Buff Lashes Korean Cysteamine
- Specifically designed for the use of Korean/Glueless Lash Lifting
- Increasing the viscosity of both Steps 1 and 2 creates a thicker formulation that provides a stronger, more controlled hold on the lashes, helping to weigh and set them more effectively. Because a thicker formula requires less Pink Powder, there is less dilution of the active ingredients, which helps maintain formulation strength and can contribute to faster, more efficient processing times.
If you have previously patch tested with the original Buff Browz Cysteamine system, you do not need to re-patch test your clients with the new Korean Lash Lifting system.
STEP 1 LIFT KEY FEATURES
LIFT
The Buff Browz LIFT solution is Cysteamine-based, not TGA-based. Cysteamine Hydrochloride is a much less invasive ingredient. It is a decarboxylated derivative of cysteine, which is the amino acid that makes up 18% of the keratin protein structure. Therefore, it has a strong ability to increase the strength of the hair structure whilst in use. The Buff Browz LIFT is also a nutrient powerhouse and is composed of essential ingredients for optimum hair health. Ultimately, LIFT will not only restructure the shape and direction of the hair, but it will also help to nourish and improve the strength and condition of the hair. This acts almost as a treatment, but also almost obliterates the risk of over-processing the hair. The solution is completely fragrance-free and allows for a slightly longer processing time in comparison to TGA brands which allows for better control.

- Cetrimonium Chloride: Aids moisture and keeps the cuticles sealed and flat.

TGA vs Cysteamine
The two ingredients serve the same purpose but have completely different structures and affect the hair's anatomy in opposite ways. But overall, they both increase the pH of the hair to an alkaline region, open the cuticle and break the disulphide bonds.
TGA
Stronger and faster-acting, a TGA formula s an excellent choice for coarse, stubborn hair types.
It is great for confident, experienced artists who understand how the product and hair behave and work together in unison for optimal results.
Ideal for downward-growing or coarse lashes; TGA effectively restructures hair to hold a completely opposing shape and structure for extended periods of time.
TGA has a minimal reaction rate.
CYSTEAMINE
Cysteamine is a less invasive ingredient.
It is a derivative of cysteine, which is the amino acid that makes up 18% of the keratin protein structure. Therefore, it has a strong ability to increase the strength of the hair structure whilst in use.
It is generally a slower processing ingredient.
Cysteamine does have a higher reaction rate and can irritate sensitive skin types. Client’s can develop an allergy to cysteamine over time.
The two active ingredients behave differently and each has its own pros and cons. It’s important to note that neither provides nourishing or infusing benefits on a solo basis; these come from the additional ingredients in the formula. All Buff Browz and Buff Lashes systems are enriched with nutrients and botanical extracts to help maintain the integrity and health of eyebrow hairs and eyelashes.
When choosing a system, focus not only on the active ingredient (TGA or Cysteamine) but also on the additional nourishing components for optimal results. Selecting between TGA and Cysteamine ultimately comes down to the artist’s preference and experience.

Before I advise you on what timings to use for both Eyebrow Lamination and Lash Lifting, I want to emphasise that these timings will vary with client to client depending on the anatomical makeup of their hair and the results they are looking to achieve. Gone are the days when we leave our clients to process; regular assessment is key. It may even be that you check the hair and they have finished processing prior to the end of the decided processing time and that it is time to remove the product before they become damaged. We encourage artists to perfect their ability to assess the breakdown of the eyelashes and eyebrows during Step 1. Artists should use manufacturer timings as a guideline and should be able to assess individual timings during the appointment.

Eyebrow Lamination Step by Step
STEP 1 LIFT
First, wipe away any traces of makeup, product and excess oils with Purify and Detox from The Buff Browz Brow Care Range then comb out the brows before applying a layer of LIFT. Apply from the root upwards. Leave on the brows for the appropriate time depending on the hair type (scroll to the top of this page for in-depth timings).

STEP 2 SET
Remove LIFT with a clean cotton pad. Then apply a layer of SET to the brows and leave to process. Timings mirror Step 1. Remove with a clean cotton pad. Comb out the brows gently, following the shape and natural direction of growth.
OPTIONAL use a tint or a hybrid stain depending on the results your client is looking to achieve. If necessary, wax the brows according to the clients desired shape.
STEP 3 NOURISH
Apply a small amount of NOURISH and brush the product through the hairs in the new direction of growth. Apply more until the hairs have absorbed the product and are looking healthy and shiny.

INSTRUCTIONS
EYELASH LIFTING
When it comes to eyelash lifting, the transformation process is more complex than eyebrow lamination. Your choice of products should be guided by the technique you intend to perform: Classic or Korean/Glueless.
TGA-based systems are typically used for Classic lash lifting techniques, while Cysteamine-based systems are generally preferred for Korean/Glueless techniques. However, the most suitable technique and product system should always be determined following a thorough lash assessment, taking into account the client's natural lash characteristics, condition, and desired results.
Below is a very basic guide to lash lifting in the classic sense.

Remove LIFT. Then apply SET.

Frequently Asked Questions
Cysteamine lamination faq's
Patch test as per your insurance’s instructions. We recommend following the method below
- Push all the product to the bottom of the sachet
- Create a small hole in the sachet using a lash lifting tool or pin
- Push up a small amount of product and wipe using a micro brush or lip applicator tool.
- Pop step 1, 2 and 3 onto your client’s inner elbow
- Leave for 24-48 hours.
- Push the product back to the bottom of the sachet and tape using micropore tape
Using clingfilm is completely down to artists skillset and ability and must take the hair type into consideration. If you do use it, most artists only use it for about 2 minutes.
We wouldn’t advise using the lamination kit on pregnant or breastfeeding women as is hasn’t been tested for this.
The lamination should last between 4-6 weeks. It can last longer but DO NOT laminate the brows until at least 8 weeks later as you want to avoid over processing and damaging your clients’ brows.
